L&C Moves Up Princeton Review’s Top 50 Green Schools List

Lewis & Clark is ranked No. 17, up 20 spots from last year, in Princeton Review’s 2025 list of the nation’s most environmentally responsible colleges and universities.

Lewis & Clark continues to be recognized as an environmental leader, landing at No. 17 in Princeton Review’s latest list of Top 50 Green Schools in the United States. L&C moved up 20 spots from No. 37 last year. The full list appears in The Princeton Review Guide to Green Colleges: 2025 Edition.

According to Princeton Review’s website, the schools that made the list “share superb sustainability practices, a strong foundation in sustainability education, and a healthy quality of life for students on campus.”

The Princeton Review chose the schools for the guide based on data from its surveys of administrators at 600 colleges during the 2023–24 academic year as well as surveys of students attending the colleges. More than 25 data points were analyzed in the selection of schools for the guide.

The Princeton Review is seeing substantive interest among college applicants in attending green colleges. Of the nearly 8,000 college-bound students the company polled for its 2024 College Hopes & Worries Survey, 61 percent said having information about a college’s commitment to the environment would affect their decision to apply to or attend a school.

“Sustainability is central to our mission at Lewis & Clark, and this ranking reflects the ongoing work of our three schools,” said President Robin Holmes-Sullivan. “We are proud to be shaping future leaders who are deeply committed to addressing the environmental challenges of our planet.”
