In our on-going effort to reduce electrical use and make the campus more sustainable, Facilities Services has installed vending misers on all campus beverage machines.  After running a test on the machine at Facilities Services it was determined that the misers reduce electrical consumption by almost 50%.  Utilizing a custom passive infrared sensor, the vending miser powers down a vending machine when the area surrounding it is unoccupied and automatically repowers the vending machine when the area is reoccupied. This just one more step in reducing the College’s carbon footprint.
