Why is this a great opportunity specifically for L&C staff?
All of our classes are offered in the evening to accommodate working professionals, and we recently converted the program to a hybrid modality with courses in-person, online and mixed format. In addition, all of our program’s graduates experience career advancement through a new job or a promotion within six months of graduation.

Our program curriculum offers a comprehensive understanding of both higher education and student affairs, so it gives you both breadth and depth when it comes to understanding working on a college campus. Our classes span theoretical and historical knowledge, such as courses pertaining to the history of higher education student affairs, equity and social justice in higher education, and legal issues in higher education, while other courses help develop practical skills such as dialogue facilitation, crisis management, and program evaluation and assessment.
Who is an ideal candidate?
Ideal candidates are those who do not hold a masters in higher education and student affairs, are looking to deepen their understanding of higher education and student affairs, and develop their skills around serving diverse college students.

Now in her fourth year with the Dallas School District, Darr is one of two school psychologists serving students at Whitworth and Oakdale Heights elementary schools, Dallas Community Charter School, and Dallas High School. Last year she served 86 students through the evaluation process and 90 students the year prior.
Piros was presented with the award at a surprise assembly in front of a gym full of excited middle school students in the fall, and will be formally honored at COSA’s annual Seaside Conference in June 2025.
Dr. Yellowbird’s research focuses on the effects of colonization and methods of decolonization, ancestral health, intermittent fasting, Indigenous mindfulness, neurodecolonization, mindful decolonization, and the cultural significance of Rez dogs.
