main content Facilities Services Stays Busy All Summer with Construction and Capital Projects
Every summer, the Facilities Services team rolls up their sleeves and works hard to upgrade buildings and address repairs across campus to prepare for the fall semester.
BoDine HVAC Replacement will enhance classroom air quality and temperature control.
Covered Bike Parking offers new secure, convenient short-term and long-term bike parking options.
Elevator Modernizations in the Fields Art Center, Miller Center for Humanities, and Olin will improve mechanical components and add a touch of interior cab modernization.
Frank Manor House Improvements include replacing the sunroom windows to match the rest of the building’s charm and addressing some minor wood rot.
Grad School Power Line project involves replacing the aboveground, temporary electrical utility service with a sleek, permanent underground system.
Griswold Rooftop Structure is a permanent structure that will replace the temporary rented tents we’ve been using as a filming platform.
Holmes Envelope Improvements to the SW portion of Holmes Hall’s roof include reframing, sheathing, and shingling to address the sections that have been causing leaks.
Manor House Water Intrusion project kicks off with excavating the area along the south side of the building near the Business and Admissions offices. This work will be quite invasive, bringing some temporary constraints to the Manor House front entry. The project is set to run from July through August, with final landscaping to be completed in late September to match the planting season.
McAfee HVAC Improvements will significantly increase airflow and improve indoor air quality.
New and Improved Campus Signage includes a wide array of gate and directional signage to reflect the renaming of the student center, the addition of parking lot #8, various department and office location updates, and our exterior You Are Here maps.
Olin Chemistry Equipment include a new Thermo Scientific Heracell Vios CO2 Incubator and Thermo Scientific TSX 50 cu. ft. refrigerator.
Olin Roof Work calls for a remove-and-replace job with an inverted membrane system.
Refreshing the Lower Estate Garden, Phase 1 includes installing a new retaining wall and rebuilding the stone walls to meet historical landmark standards, all while modernizing the structures. The pool will be filled in and memorialized with a concrete footprint. To restore the area to a lush green space, we’ll also be removing the existing grape arbor and masonry columns.
Residence Hall ADA Access Improvements to key areas such as the main entrances of Platt, Copeland, Tamarack, and the Howard main lounge.
Residence Hall Boiler Exhaust Replacements will swap out the old metal exhaust flues in four resident hall condensing boiler systems with durable PVC assemblies. The acidic pH of the condensate has eroded the stainless steel, making this upgrade essential.
Roberts Hall HVAC Controls Improvement will update the building automation control system in Roberts/East/West residential halls with appropriate and precise equipment.
South Chapel is set to receive exterior and interior improvements including new masonry repointing, masonry sealing, and lintel repairs. These enhancements will not only give the building a revitalized look but also address a pesky water intrusion issue.
Storm Drainage Improvements to asphalt grade corrections and directional water flow changes will help manage rain flow, keeping our campus safe and dry.
Terwilliger Bus Stop improvements to enhance safety and accessibility of the Trimet bus stops located on Terwilliger. This project includes expanding the sidewalks to the bus stop locations on each side of the street.
Zehntbauer Drains and Gutters are getting a complete makeover with new tiles, fresh mortar, and thin set. Replacing the tile, drains, and gutters will not only maintain a safe pool deck but also protect the underlying concrete pool structure. This project will extend the life of our pool by decades.
Zehntbauer Heating and Cooling Rooftop Replacement is crucial for maintaining a comfortable pool environment in sync with the water temperature. A failure could significantly impact pool function and occupancy, so this upgrade is a high priority.
