With the possibility of upcoming wintry conditions, community members should prioritize using extra caution to avoid slips, trips, and falls. Despite the best efforts to keep paths safe to navigate, campus surfaces can be uneven, obscured, or slippery during inclement weather.

Safety Hazards

If you observe an unsafe condition, please report it when able. The primary contacts for reporting hazards are Campus Safety and Facilities Services:

Campus Safety

  • To report hazards that are life-threatening or pose the risk of extensive property damage:
    Campus Safety dispatch (all hours): 503-768-7777

Facilities Services

  • To report non-life threatening hazards in the natural or built environment that, left unaddressed, could lead to injury or property damage (eg. hazardous walking surfaces, damaged trees, and flooding):
    Facilities Services (weekdays, 7 a.m – 4 p.m): 503-768-7845
  • For routine hazards that do not pose an immediate risk of bodily harm or property damage, please submit a service request via AkitaBox:
    • Campus Residents: Submit a service request via Campus Living.
    • Faculty/Staff/Non-residents: Submit a service request via Akitabox.

Accidents

If you experience an injury, it is important to complete an incident report. For any incident that results in medical attention or time lost from work, visit the Human Resources Workers’ Compensation page for additional information about incident reporting, medical transportation options, and claims.
