Stricter Settings Implemented on @lclark.edu Domain May Impact You
On June 24th, stricter settings were implemented on our @lclark.edu domain. This means that recipients will have greater confidence in the authenticity and security of emails coming from @lclark.edu senders.
There is no action required from users, unless you are using a 3rd party email system to send out emails.
To supplement our security posture, on June 24th, we increased our DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance) parameters for the @lclark.edu domain. This change operates seamlessly, as auser, you will see no immediate impact to the way you send or receive emails from your inbox.
When we receive emails, DMARC ensures that any suspicious emails that fail authentication checks are appropriately filtered. This helps to protect our inboxes from phishing and spoofing attempts
These DMARC standards will identify and monitor all approved/verified senders used to transmit mail on L&C’s behalf. External receivers will see that we have security standards that authenticate a sender’s domain, verify that the email transmitted by a sender is legitimate, and reduce the likelihood of L&C emails ending up in the spam filter.
