Spine-Chilling Data Points
Despite a few hundred fraudulent bot entries (which were excluded), this year’s contest was a tight race in almost all categories. No winner received a majority of the votes, except the Kid/Family costume. Perhaps we should follow Portland’s example and move to rank choice voting next year for this contest?
- Only four votes separated first from second and third place in the individual/pair costume entry!
- The group costume winners received nine more votes than the second place group, but still only secured 15 percent of all votes.
- The pet costume contest wasn’t quite as close—21 percent of votes to the winner (possibly because of the timely election theme).
- Although there were quite a few fans of the winning Door entry, it wasn’t a landslide victory (41 percent of votes).
Special thanks to everyone joined our first ever Thriller flash mob, our first annual Halloween costume parade, and to our ONE L&C volunteers for decorating the Fowler Student Center trick or treat!
