Q&A with Charis Asante-Agyei, Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship
Charis Asante-Agyei’s research focuses on investigating everyday entrepreneurial practices and design artifacts, paying special attention to hybrid entrepreneurship and digital platforms.
When and how did you develop an interest in your field?
I like to think that entrepreneurship has always been part of my life. My dad started and ran a beverage business for several years, and I remember helping to make the beverages when I was growing up. Much later, I had entrepreneurial stints including as an undergraduate in South Korea, when my colleagues and I ran a tour venture. I also led efforts to set up our first student government on campus. These experiences in creating and initiating new things are quite central to the theory and practice of entrepreneurship as a field of research.
What excites you most about joining the L&C community?
I am delighted to contribute to the innovative work that is going on at the Bates Center, where we are creating valuable experiences for our students through coursework and extra-curricular programming.
What kind of hobbies or special activities do you enjoy outside of work?
I enjoy watching and playing football (also known as soccer). My favorite athlete is Lionel Messi, who is, in my opinion, the GOAT.
