The accompanying citation read: “In recognition of and appreciation for his outstanding and meritorious services rendered toward the promotion of friendly relations between the Republic of Korea and the United States of America…by the President of Korea.”
The medal, which can be seen in accompanying photos, was accompanied by an impressive citation in both Korean and English and by a Presidential wristwatch. November 13 marked the end of Caldwell’s ninth year as honorary consul. Caldwell’s current term ends in November of 2023. At the ceremony,
Caldwell stated that he was “honored and humbled by the award.”
