L&C Hosting Interactive Exhibit
This fall, L&C will be host to “Hostile Terrain 94,” an art project created by Jason De León, anthropologist and author of The Land of Open Graves.
The project consists of approximately 3000 toe tags, each of which is filled out by hand and represents a real migrant individual who died attempting to cross Arizona’s Sonoran Desert. The tags, once filled out, will be attached to a large map of the desert to depict where each individual’s remains were discovered.
The project organizers have requested that any interested members of the L&C community get involved by sharing contact information here before August 20.
Lewis & Clark joins dozens of fellow institutions worldwide in participating in and hosting this project. More information about the exhibit and its creator can be found at www.undocumentedmigrationproject.org/hostileterrain94
