Amy Baskin Receives Edna L. Homes Fellowship in Young Readers
This month, Literary Arts announced that Amy Baskin, Lewis & Clark’s Community Friends Program Coordinator, received the 2019 Edna L. Homes Fellowship in Young Readers.
“I consider the act of submitting work an accomplishment in and of itself, for every writer and artist,” Baskin said. “I’ve trained myself to feel great each time I submit work anywhere. Last summer, I hand-delivered an envelope to Oregon Literary Arts just in time for the deadline. My mission, as I understood it, was a complete success: I had done the work and had shared it, just like every other year. Then I took my daughter out for coffee and promptly forgot all about it. So this is a lovely surprise, and by my definition, feels beyond successful. I’ll use the fellowship to revise my current passion project: a novel-in-verse.”
Oregon Literary Fellowships are awarded to help Oregon writers initiate, develop, or complete literary projects. Since 1987, Literary Arts has honored over 600 Oregon writers and publishers, and distributed more than $900,000 in fellowships and award monies through the Oregon Book Awards & Fellowships program.
