At L&C, we are committed to sustainability and reducing our environmental impact. We recognize that daily commutes contribute to carbon emissions, which is why we actively support employees who choose eco-friendly transportation options. Whether you bike, walk, or take public transit to work, we offer commuter benefits and resources to make your journey more affordable and accessible.

By choosing sustainable commuting options, you’re not only saving money but also helping create a greener future. Together, we can reduce our carbon footprint and make a positive impact on our community and the environment.

Bike Parking

• Free for L&C Staff – Simply register your bike in the Parking Portal.
• Plan Your Ride – CATS provides maps and directions for bike commuters from all areas of Portland.

Pio Express – Free Shuttle Service

• Routes: Connects campus, downtown, and public transportation hubs.
• Availability: Runs during the academic year (does not operate in summer).
• Pioneer Express Shuttle App: Download on iOS | Android for real-time tracking and updates.

TriMet Pass – Discounted Transit for Staff

• Save 75% on ticket books or a monthly TriMet pass.
• Plan Your Commute: Use the TriMet Trip Planner to find the best route.

Driving to Work: Vehicle Support & Parking at L&C

At L&C, we understand that commuting by car is essential for many employees. That’s why we offer resources to support your drive, including parking options, carpool incentives, and commuter benefits. Whether you rely on your vehicle for flexibility or convenience, we strive to make your commute as smooth and cost-effective as possible.

Additionally, we encourage sustainable driving choices, such as carpooling or electric vehicles, to help reduce our environmental impact. However you get to work, we’re here to support your journey.

Parking on Campus

• Permit Cost: $195 per semester, payable through payroll deductions split over four paychecks.
• Summer Parking: Free from June through August.
• Important Notes:
  • A parking permit does not guarantee a parking space.
  • Parking regulations are enforced Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
  • Employees using payroll deduction must reapply at the start of each academic year (deductions occur September–April).

Zipcar

• Discounted Membership: Staff can join Zipcar for $35 per year ($90 value).
• Rental Rates: Starting at $9.50 per hour or $79 per day.

Vehicle Rental

• L&C Vehicles: Some L&C vehicles are available for staff rental when not in use.
  • Drivers must be authorized to rent and operate L&C vehicles.
• Enterprise Rentals: L&C has a discounted rental agreement with Enterprise for staff use.
