Explore your new home through the arts! Portland is known for its unique and quirky creative culture including visual art, music, dance, theater, literary arts, media and more. This program will give you the opportunity to get to know the Portland arts scene and connect with the vibrant arts programs at L&C. You’ll stay on campus in our dorms during this “trip” and have time to discover all that the Lewis & Clark campus has to offer before classes start!

- Workshops with local artists

- Learn about Lewis and Clark’s art resources

- Attend 2-3 performances in Portland including theatre, dance, live music or comedy.
- Visit the Portland Art Museum and attend a gallery walk.
- Attend workshops with local artists; possibilities include graphic and visual arts, ceramics, creative writing,
- dance, performance, and art making as protest.
- Spend time discovering new and familiar art forms and creating your own art!
- Get to know other students interested in the Arts.
- Learn about campus arts resources including Theatre, Dance, Art, Music, New Media and Documentary
- Film, and Creative Writing.
- Get advice about choosing classes and planning your 4 years at L&C from those involved in the arts at L&C
- now.
- Meet faculty and current students from across L&C who make the arts a part of their college experience.
- Get to know Portland through the eyes of an artist!
- A network of friends and colleagues that share your interests
- Access to the Portland arts scene
- Access to people who make-up the art scene on campus and in Portland
- The chance to practice collaborative creation of art

Trip Specifics
Dates: Wednesday, Aug. 20 - Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2025
Cost: $995. Financial aid is applied for high-need students who qualify.
Rigor: Low
Required Forms
These forms can be completed only after you have received a trip placement email, and are due by Tuesday, June 25th. You will need to log into your L&C Portal to complete these forms.
