Lewis & Clark’s Board of Trustees has welcomed a new chair as well as four new faces. As the body responsible for the ongoing success of Lewis & Clark, the board is empowered to appoint the president and make major financial and planning decisions.

Chair

Ronald Ragen, new chair of the Board of Trustees, has been a lawyer with Davis Wright Tremaine since 1961. His areas of emphasis include international business, municipal finance, securities, real estate, and corporate law. In addition to a general corporate practice, he represents clients from throughout Asia, as well as West Coast–based businesses involved in transactions with Pacific Rim countries.

He succeeds Judith Johansen JD ‘83, who recently became president of Marylhurst University in Portland.

Members

Patrick Markham BS ‘72 is president of Brooke Communications (which owns and operates radio stations), BCI Real Estate (a real estate investment and management company), and Fly Away Travel of Roseburg (which operates travel agencies). All are based in Roseburg.

Stephen Roth has founded several real estate investment companies around the globe, including KaiLong REI, Secured Capital Corporation, Secured Capital Japan, and STAM Europe.

Eric Parsons BA ‘70 is the chairman, president, and chief executive officer of StanCorp Financial Group in Portland. He is married to Janet Parsons BS ‘73.

Ex-Officio Member

Richard Maizels JD ‘66 is the new president of the law school’s alumni association. He offers arbitration and mediation services through his Portland-based office.
