Lewis & Clark Law School has been named among the Top Green Law Schools in the country by preLaw magazine. The magazine notes that, as the field of environmental law continues to grow, prospective law students face a bigger challenge finding “the right school among the many law schools ‘going green.’”
PreLaw editors created their list based on a review of information regarding curriculum offerings, campus environment, and building trends. They also gave additional weight to schools with a “strong green focus” in their classes, faculty, externships, legal journals, and summer programs.
Assistant Dean of Admissions Shannon Davis pointed out in the preLaw article that Lewis & Clark’s location in the Pacific Northwest offers its law students a leg up in establishing themselves in the field of environmental law.
“The Northwest region and the city of Portland in particular are places where people have led green efforts for decades,” Davis said. “Our students can benefit from the innovative businesses, community engagement, thoughtful discussions, and forward-thinking green practices of the people who are leading the nation in this movement.”
