Outstanding Alumni in the Spotlight
Each year, Lewis & Clark honors alumni from the College of Arts and Sciences for their outstanding accomplishments and community service. We’re proud to announce the 2008 honorees:
Distinguished Alumnus: William Feltz BA ‘66 is an administrator and ethnomusicologist at the East-West Center in Honolulu. Capitalizing on the center’s international platform, Feltz helps support struggling cultures and reaches out to at-risk youth through the arts.
Outstanding Young Alumna: Satya Byock BA ‘04, an international aid worker and community organizer, traveled to Sri Lanka to help farmers after the December 2004 tsunami. She worked to build relationships between people there and in her home community of Missoula, Montana.
Donald G. Balmer Citation (for service to the college): Cyrus Partovi BA ‘67, senior lecturer in social sciences, has been on the faculty at Lewis & Clark since 1992 and has taught and advised thousands of students. He generously shares his knowledge of foreign policy at alumni gatherings around the country.
Pioneer Alumni Leadership Awards: W. Frank Lawrence BS ‘52 and Donna J. Lawrence BA ‘52. Frank chaired the class of 1952 Golden Reunion. He and Donna have helped establish the 1952 Scholarship Fund and are members of the Albany Society Board of Directors.
These outstanding alumni will receive their awards at the Alumni Honors Banquet, the first event of Alumni Weekend, on October 2. Space is limited, so register online now.
