Changes in the Office of Student Accessibility

In her newly expanded and restructured role, Katie McFaddin will head both the Office of Student Accessibility and the College Advising Center as associate dean for student success.

Associate Vice President of Student Health and Accessibility Aimée Milne has departed from Lewis & Clark to pursue a new position as assistant vice president for Wellness and Health Services at Whitman College in Washington. Her last day was August 1.

Aimée’s parents are alums of the College, having met at L&C, and Aimée obtained her Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Lewis & Clark’s Graduate School in 2002. Since 2014, Aimée has served various roles throughout the Division of Student Life from case manager/counselor in Counseling Services, associate director of Wellness Services, director of Case Management, and director of the Office of Student Accessibility. In 2023, Aimée was promoted to the role of associate vice president of Student Health and Accessibility, overseeing the offices of Health Promotion and Wellness, Student Health Center, and Student Accessibility.

“I’m grateful for Aimée’s leadership and invaluable contributions across all three campuses. I’m honored and humbled to have worked alongside Aimée so closely in Student Life,” Vice President of Student Life and Dean of Students Evette Castillo Clark said. “Her work has touched untold hundreds within our campus community and offices—especially our students. She has been a strong advocate for students in her many roles, and I will miss her passion, collaborative spirit, and positive energy.”

Following Aimée’s move, the Office of Student Accessibility will move from the Division of Student Life to the Office of the Dean of the College.

“I am grateful to Aimée for all her great work in strengthening that office and supporting the entire campus with her leadership,” Suttmeier said. “Though it’s always hard to see a great colleague leave, this opening allowed us to rethink how we structure some of our student-facing offices.”

As of August 1, the new director of the Office of Student Accessibility will be Katie McFaddin. In her newly expanded and restructured role, Katie will head both the Office of Student Accessibility (OSA) and the College Advising Center (CAC) as associate dean for student success.

Stephanie Taimi-Mandel has been promoted to senior associate director of OSA and will work closely with Katie on continued successes of the office.

“Given the offices’ proximity in Albany and their shared mission of supporting students’ academic success, putting the two offices under common leadership made good organizational sense,” Suttmeier said.

Searches are currently underway in the Advising Center to support this transition and fill a recent vacancy.

In announcing the new leadership of OSA, Suttmeier added, “As anyone who has worked with Katie knows, she is the ideal person to lead both offices, and I could not be more thrilled that she has agreed to this new role. As Associate Dean of Student Success, she will bring a wealth of talent, experience, and dedication to helping students, supporting faculty, and strengthening our community through ensuring all students can access the resources to support their academic success. She is aided in this task by her continuing team in OSA and the CAC and I am grateful to them, as well, for their upcoming help with this transition.”
