Lewis & Clark Hosts National Institute for Student Affairs Leaders
More than 40 vice presidents for student affairs and other senior-level administrators will visit Lewis & Clark June 23-26 for theNASPA Ben Hogan Small Colleges and Universities Institute.
NASPA is the leading association for the advancement, health, and sustainability of the student affairs profession. The institute is a residential program for senior-level student affairs administrators to engage in discussion and reflection about critical issues in student affairs and examine effective and innovative programs.
“Next week, you may see some student affairs leaders living and learning amongst us as they will be meeting in Fowler, and living in Hartzfeld and Juniper,” Vice President of Student Life Evette Castillo Clark said. “These are the senior student affairs officers at their campuses along with their senior administrators (or next in commands) that help oversee all of student life on their campuses. A variety of student experience and student life topics will be explored such as student success, retention, recruiting/onboarding staff, free speech, DEI, and wellness.”
During the institute, President Robin Holmes-Sullivan will present as a panelist, joined by Interim President of Linfield University Rebecca Johnson and President of The Evergreen State College John Carmichael.
“L&C’s host-site team has been planning with NASPA all year, and I want to thank the following staff for a very productive planning year—it wasn’t possible without this crew!: Tamara Ko, Rocky Campbell, Fran Spann, Emmanuel Macias, Joey Zayas, Daniel Eagle, Sherron Stonecypher, and Ben Meoz,” Clark said. “Many, many thanks to other staff and partners as well who have offered resources and support: Bon Appetit, Conferences and Events, President’s office, Mark Pietrok and Athletics, Campus Safety, and Advancement.
“We are also honored to have President Holmes-Sullivan as a student affairs professional who rose to being our president, helping me welcome other chief student affairs officers and the NASPA outgoing President Kevin Kruger, to our campus,” Clark added. “Kevin will be here as his last event for NASPA. We are honored to have him.”
