Sunflower Blooms
At last count, more than 250 alumni had joined the graduate school’s online discussion of The Sunflower: On the Possibilities and Limits of Forgiveness, by Simon Wiesenthal. A Nazi concentration camp survivor, Wiesenthal uses his heartbreaking narrative to raise fundamental questions about the nature of human forgiveness and the possibilities of affirmation. “School psychologists, counselors, and educators are writing comments daily,” says Vanessa Fawbush, who organized the forum for the graduate school. “It’s a meaningful way to explore the topic of forgiveness as a community.”
