New Sculpture Unveiled
On September 5, the College dedicated Sacagawea and Jean Baptiste, a 7-foot-tall
sculpture created by Glenna Goodacre. The bronze work was selected by Richard Bertea and donated to Lewis & Clark in honor of his wife, Hyla, a College trustee, and their daughter, Bay ’94.
Goodacre’s public art includes Washington, D.C.’s Vietnam Women’s Memorial, Philadelphia’s Irish Memorial to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Irish potato famine, and Sacagawea on the obverse side of the millennium golden dollar coin. The bronze statue is permanently installed southeast of the Frank Manor House.
