In Honor of Balance
Lewis & Clark Law School will honor Judge Patricia Lynn Davis with the 2003-04 Joyce Ann Harpole Award at a reception on April 1. The award is named for the late Joyce Ann Harpole JD ’79, who dedicated her life to career, family, and community.
Davis is a judge for the Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua, and Siuslaw Indians and an instructor at Southwestern Community College in Coos Bay. As a single mother, she skillfully balances family and career. Friends and colleagues “admire her grace and dignity in all matters, both personal and professional.”
Third-year law student Dan Eller will be awarded the 2003-04 Harpole Memorial Legacy Scholarship. The $3,500 scholarship acknowledges the recipient’s ability to balance a dedication to legal studies with family and community. Eller blends the demands of law school, community service, and his legal studies to create “a full, vibrant life.”
Each year, Lewis & Clark Law School celebrates Harpole’s life and legacy with a half-day continuing legal education program that focuses on ethics, followed by the scholarship and award presentations. This year, the CLE program concentrates on “Living Your Legacy” and features Father Michael Maslowsky, community leader, 2002 Watzek Award recipient, and parish priest at Portland’s St. Anthony Catholic Church.
