Lewis & Clark’s Graduate School of Education held its first alumni event of the academic year on December 5. The event attracted a diverse crowd of more than 100 counselors, teachers, and school leaders whose graduation years ranged from 1951 to 2002.
“While we see many of our alums out in the community doing good work, rare is the opportunity for us to just get together and party,” said Boyd Pidcock, assistant professor of counseling psychology. “We need to do this more often!”
The celebration marked the first opportunity for many alumni to meet the graduate school’s new dean, Peter Cookson, who joined Lewis & Clark last summer.
“Alumni participation is critical to the well-being and growth of our school,” Cookson remarked to those gathered. “We need your ideas, creativity, and leadership to ensure that our programs stay responsive to the realities you face in the field.” In return, Cookson said the graduate school will continue to offer alumni “an exciting intellectual space” for discovery, debate, and personal growth throughout their careers.
