Gender Studies Symposium
The 31st annual Gender Studies Symposium, held in mid-March, explored topics related to gender, sex, law, and social change.
Speakers included Rafia Zakaria, who spoke about Muslim women, Sharia law, and the politics of divorce; Pamela Bridgewater, who addressed popular culture, technology, and a 21st-century framework for reproductive rights and activism; Andrea Ritchie, who spoke on uncovering police profiling and brutality against women and LGBTQ people of color; and Linda McClain, who discussed the evolution of family law and policy over the past 20 years.
The three-day event also included an art show and more than 20 panel discussions, interactive workshops, performances, and other events related to gender and sexuality.
