Antivirus
Antivirus software is an essential layer of defense for ALL computer systems. It acts as a safeguard against malicious software, such as viruses, worms, trojans, and ransomware, that can compromise a computer’s security, functionality, and data.
While Windows 10/11 and MacOS have default built in security features, ALL operating systems are vulnerable to various cyber threats, making antivirus protection a necessity rather than an option. Below you will find 2 options for free antivirus software that work on MacOS and Windows, as well as instructions for enabling Windows Defender.
Avast Antivirus: Avast offers robust antivirus protection alongside features like Wi-Fi security scanning and password management. Yet, some users find its pop-up ads promoting the premium version intrusive.
AVG Antivirus: AVG offers decent malware detection and a user-friendly interface. However, the free version is ad-supported, and there have been concerns about the privacy implications of its data collection practices.
