Services for Mobility Impairments
Visiting Campus
If you are planning to visit or attend Lewis & Clark, please contact the Admissions Office to arrange accommodations that meet your needs. Additionally, Health Services or Campus Safety have a limited number of wheelchairs available. Other mobility options include renting equipment from local providers such as McCann’s Medical, which offers local pickup (Tigard location) or delivery to campus.
Lewis & Clark is committed to improving accessibility across campus, especially in the area of physical accessibility. The college is situated on the original grounds of a manor house, built into a hillside and along a ravine, making the campus unique but also presenting challenges in reconfiguring it for accessibility. The College’s Master Plan, which outlines the future development of the campus, is guiding our efforts to achieve optimal accessibility in the coming years.
Over the past two decades, significant improvements have been made across all three campuses to enhance accessibility within buildings. An accessibility map, a work-in-progress, illustrates accessible routes throughout the campus and is regularly updated as we make further upgrades.
While we have made significant progress, some buildings remain partially inaccessible. Once you have registered for classes, the Office of Student Accessibility may need to relocate classes or arrange alternative accommodations to meet your needs. If you have a visible or invisible disability, it is crucial to be a proactive self-advocate and notify the Office of Student Accessibility of your specific needs in a timely manner, as each individual requires tailored support.
Student Accessibility is located in room 206 of Albany Quadrangle.
