Hardship Assistance Fund

These funds are made available to any full member of the unit*, as well as their dependents, spouses, and partners. Applicants may apply for up to $1,000 per 12-month period.

Assistance is available to:

  • Any full member of the unit (*excludes Fair Share and probationary employees)
  • Any dependent, spouse, partner of a full member of the unit

Assistance is available for the following needs:

  • Hospital or other medical expenses
  • Travel expenses for bereavement or medical reasons
  • Electric, gas, water/sewer expenses
  • Mortgage or rent payments
  • Transportation expenses to and/or from work
  • Payroll delay

Who can apply? 

  • Any full member of the unit
  • Spouse or partner or guardian of a full unit member

Application Process

The following informations and documents are needed to process a fund request:

  1. Copy of government ID (passport, driver’s license)
  2. Explanation for need of funds
  3. Proof of expenses (invoices, statements)
  4. And if applicable, proof of relationship to the member (marriage license, joint tax return, joint bank account statement, birth certificate)
