Why Lewis & Clark?
My research revealed that Lewis & Clark has a strong ranking in U.S. News & World Report. I was interested in liberal arts education, and I wanted a city near the ocean.
Memories from Academic English Studies
It was great to start by taking summer classes in AES before starting in the fall. I got to live on campus with other international students. We took classes together and had activities like summer barbecues. We developed a strong community. It was a nice way to transition into the Lewis & Clark community. In fact, I helped with the New Student Orientation Week in the fall because I already knew the campus. The academic preparation in AES helped me transition smoothly into undergraduate classes.
Your Liberal Arts Experience
Lewis & Clark gave me the chance to discover my passion. Liberal arts education allows you to try things you might not have thought about. I started with an interest in psychology. By taking other courses outside psychology, I discovered that I love art and photography. I learned to think, be creative and communicate through art.
What is next?
I got into an artist residency program in upstate New York. This is part of my one-year Optional Practical Training (OPT).
Advice for Future Students
Try something different: look at other majors, explore and find your passion, engage with others, get involved in activities. There are so many opportunities.
