Below is a sampling of Apps that may help you to monitor your moods or build skills. The Lewis and Clark Counseling Services do not endorse these apps. They are offered as suggestions and examples of tools available to engage in self-care.
Note that some apps may be available only for android or for apple devices. Apps may include one-time or annual subscription costs, or may include in-app purchases for full access.
For Stress and Balance
Happify helps you to build happiness inducing skills through activities and games.
SmilingMind is designed to help bring balance to your life.
MindShift teaches relaxation skills, develops new thinking, and suggests healthy activities.
The Safe Place app, which is geared towards black mental health, has a lot of content (i.e. chat room, support groups, videos, podcasts, self care and mental health resources, etc)
Reveri, a hypnosis app which is marketed for persons in the general population who may be experiencing stress, pain, and insomnia.
Meditations, Breathing, and Sleep
Calm provides guided relaxation sessions and provides peaceful visuals, ranging from 2 to 30 minutes.
Headspace is like a gym membership for your mind. Meditation made simple.
Liberate Meditation is a subscription-based app for for the Black community to develop a daily meditation habit.
Stop, Breathe and Think helps you to check in with how you’re feeling, and try short activities tuned to your emotions.
Insight Timer provides a range of free guided meditations.
Sleep Time tracks your movement and provides customized insight into your sleep patterns.
Sleep Cycle monitors your sleep and wakes you up at an optimal time in your sleep cycle. Meditations from experts or you can meditate on your own.
Breathe2Relax helps you discover how to harness the power of breath to combat stress, control anger and anxiety, and improve your mood and induce calm.
Belly Bio Interactive Breathing is a biofeedback device that monitors your breathing and plays sounds reminiscent of ocean waves when you relax.
For Depression and Anxiety
WorryTree teaches cognitive behavioral therapy skills aimed at decreasing negative thinking.
Pacifica gives you psychologist-designed tools to address stress, anxiety and depression based on Cognitive Behavioral therapy, mindfulness meditation, relaxation and mood/health tracking.
Self-help for Anxiety Management (SAM) offers a range of self-help methods for people who are serious about learning to manage their anxiety through this engaging, flexible, and practical resource.
T2MoodTracker allows users to monitor and track emotional health.
Mindfulness Coach is specifically designed for those who have experienced trauma, because for some survivors traditional mindfulness practices may re-activate trauma responses. This app was created by the VA’s National Center for PTSD to help Veterans, Service members, and others learn how to practice mindfulness.
