Micah Leinbach
Micah Leinbach BA ’14 is the founder and director of the nonprofit Bus for Outdoor Access and Teaching (BOAT). In November 2022, Leinbach joined other L&C alumni with careers in the outdoors to speak at the College Outdoors Open House.
Micah Leinbach BA ’14 reports that the BOAT bus (www.theBOATbus.com), a nonprofit “wilderness program on wheels,” has successfully launched. They have completed two programs already and have a contract lined up for September 2019. BOAT’s board includes fellow L&C alums Julia Huggins BA ’13, Sarah Clement BA ’14, and Sarra Wynn BA ’14. Leinbach adds that they are interviewing some L&C students to be their first staff members in the fall. He says, “It’s been a hit in Denver so far–it seems like we’ve really found (and addressed) a pain point.” Leinbach is still manager of learning and development for Guild Education, which has been named Colorado’s fastest-growing start-up.
Micah Leinbach BA ’14, along with Sarah Clement BA ’14, Julia Huggins BA ’13, and Sarra Wynn BA ’14, launched a nonprofit called The BOAT (Bus for Outdoor Access and Teaching). Following a successful Indiegogo campaign, they plan to purchase and retrofit a bus with storage space, solar panels, and all manner of amenities, essentially creating a mobile classroom. The goal is to offer cheaper-than-average opportunities for youth education in the outdoors. For more information, see theboatbus.com.
