What success or update would you like to share?

The White House Office of Science and Technology announced the PAEMST awards on January 13, 2025. Krishnan Ranjani was recognized as a 2023 Mathematics awardee from Oregon.

Where are you currently living and working?

I am a computer science teacher at Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon.

How did your graduate school education help you achieve this?

I came in as a wide-eyed idealist and I left as an optimistic realist after going through the program.

What is your favorite grad school memory?

Writing classes with Ruth Shagoury, Mulcahey, Kim Stafford; discussions with Zaher Wahab and Kimberly Campbell; whole class discussions with my cohort members (some of the most loving educators I have ever met); discussions on several ways to solve a math problem in Kasi Allen’s class.

Who was your favorite professor while in graduate school?

I appreciate the contributions of all my professors and prefer not to single out just one. Each of them played a meaningful role in my growth and development. As an educator myself, I value the collective impact of mentors rather than comparing them.

Do you keep in touch with your cohort?

I work with a few of them in the district. Unfortunately, this is not a 9-5 job and leaves very little time/energy for one to socialize.
