Jaymie Cox-Garcia BA ’04

Jaymie Cox-Garcia graduated from Lewis & Clark in 2004. She graduated with a BA in Communications. At L&C, she was more involved in campus life and less involved in her homework. She played softball for four seasons and volleyball for one. She worked for the Athletic Department as the Sports Information Student Assistant for all four years. She worked in Maggie’s coffee shop, was a tour guide, and wrote for the student admissions blog when it first started. She was also involved in the Multicultural student programs with Ray Warren.

After completing her degree in Communications, she worked for Young Life student ministries for seven years. She also coached volleyball (and a little basketball, little league baseball, and softball), officiated volleyball, and worked as a game stat keeper (skills learned from her L&C work study job) at Lower Columbia College.

She then moved to Australia for a year to complete her mentorship for her Master’s degree with the Perth Heat, a Major League Baseball International affiliate. After moving back to the States, she started working for the Northwest Athletic Conference as a Sports Information Assistant. After a couple other brief stops, she moved to Bremerton, WA, in April 2015 to take the Head Volleyball Coach / Recreation Program Specialist position at Olympic College. She doesn’t coach anymore but still works for Athletics & Recreation at Olympic. She completed her Masters of Sport Science in 2017 with a double major in Sport Management and Sport Coaching (and redeemed her academic career by graduating summa cum laude).

She met her husband, Brett, in Bremerton, while playing grass volleyball. They just celebrated their 6-year anniversary.

Jaymie is a proud first generation descendent of the Spokane Tribe.
