Hanako R. (Conrad) Imber BA’10 is a member of the advisory board for the Center for Community and Global Health and the president of the Young Alumni Council at Lewis & Clark College. She served on the Lewis & Clark Board of Alumni from 2015 to 2021.

Hanako was raised in Olympia, Washington. Knowing she wanted to go to a small liberal arts college, she scoured the Oregon-Washington area and found Lewis & Clark. At Lewis & Clark, Hanako participated in a number of student life initiatives and activities, culminating in her service as the student life intern to the Office of Multicultural Affairs. As the student life intern, she organized and pursued a number of initiatives, including the LINCs mentoring program and improvements to the Exploration & Discovery curriculum. She was a member of Asian Student Union and also studied abroad in Osaka, Japan at Kansai Gaidai University during her junior year.

Hanako was also active in the Math & Computer Science Department. She was a SAAB tutor, as well as a grader and T.A. She was a member of the Lewis & Clark team for the Mathematical Competition in Modeling, where she met her future spouse. Some of her fondest memories as a student are of the Math Department. To her, it stands out as a great example of a group of caring professors who invest in their students and their success. She keeps in touch with many of these professors to this day and always looks forward to seeing them at events on and off campus.

Hanako graduated with a double major in economics and mathematics & computer science. Hanako currently serves as VP of Client Onboarding and Data Operations at R1RCM, a healthcare technology company. R1RCM helps healthcare systems leverage data to ensure that they are accurately billing insurance companies to capture lost revenue. Hanako’s work experience spans data analysis, product management, software implementations, project management, and technical leadership. She is passionate about solving interesting problems, building diverse and inclusive teams, and mentoring rising leaders - particularly women in technology. In 2023, she was recognized with the Pinnacle of Excellence Award for her outstanding contributions to R1RCM.

In addition to her academic and professional achievements, Hanako is deeply committed to serving her community. She currently holds the position of board president for YWCA of Greater Portland, where she leads initiatives aimed at eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace and justice. In March 2024, she represented Oregon as a YWCA delegate at the UN Conference on the Status of Women. Hanako’s free time is filled with reading, coaching youth soccer, and spending as much time as possible enjoying the great PNW outdoors via hiking, kayaking, backpacking, and camping. She is married to Kevin Imber BA’09, a software engineer.
