Hello! I’m Parina, a recent graduate of Mahindra UWC (MUWCI). I am from Mauritius, where I left the ocean and island life to discover life on a beautiful campus on a hill in a vibrant India.
My time there has been filled with life-long memories, experiences and emotions. I feel like I have done more in those two years than I have most of my life. From the very first day I’ve discovered UWC, it has opened so many doors for me and I feel so lucky to have had such a unique and enriching experience. My passion for hikes and stargazing started in MUWCI. Challenging myself, my identity and my beliefs were derived from this place filled with different cultures, nationalities and personalities which has made me grow and feel more love, understanding and empathy towards anyone around me.
When I heard about Lewis & Clark, I discovered a perfect match to all my academic and non-academic aspirations. Lewis & Clark’s interesting environmental studies program, its great location and natural campus among many other great features of this college are the reasons why I was so driven towards it and ended up choosing it.
Despite many challenges whether academic or otherwise, being at UWC has made me love learning in and out of the classroom. At Lewis & Clark, I am thinking of majoring in environmental studies and political science which are two subjects I grew fond of whilst at MUWCI.
Besides academics, some of my favourite activities are going to the gym, dancing and swimming. I also love trying out other activities that I have never done before which is something I definitely plan on doing at Lewis & Clark. Besides those activities, travelling has become a big part of my life. UWC has permitted me to travel to countries I have never imagined going before. I spent so much of my two years discovering the amazing cultures that different Indian states have and also spent my summer break hopping from one country to the other within Europe, visiting friends from MUWCI in their home country and getting to know them and their cultures from a different perspective.
For my future years at Lewis & Clark, I look forward to stepping into this new stage in my life and hope to make a positive impact towards the people I will meet. I also aim to learn how to use my knowledge in the real world to help tackle different global issues.
