Hello! I am Ziad, a Lebanese International student, I spent 2 years in Tanzania and looking forward to continuing that in Lewis and Clark. UWC was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience where I had the craziest adventures spending 90 hours bouncing buses for a 4 day project to having the craziest and loveliest memories in Moshi. Despite many issues and challenges I faced in UWC, I always loved the community and versatility of life we had as many things were possible if we had a plan set out. And I always adored the fact that UWC allowed me to live in the perfect balance between academic and social parts of high school; that had totally allowed me to make amazing relationships that will last a lifetime. So, here I am looking forward to this next chapter.
Besides the UWC aspect, I am proudly an activist for any issue I believe is wrong and I always plan to keep that part of me by any means whether motivating policy changes or advocating for issues and raising concerns over what doesn’t seem right. That is a reason why I chose Lewis and Clark as they encourage change makers and foster a very nice, open and accepting community for people coming from various backgrounds. I also enjoy baking and cooking quite a bit, and I am looking forward to sharing pieces of home with my new community in Lewis and Clark.
As for the above, I plan on pursuing International Affairs as well as Rhetoric and Media Studies in Lewis and Clark to be able to work on policies that will change social issues, as well as hopefully get into a career in media and journalism which allows me to grant a voice for people who don’t have theirs heard.
This will be my first time in the US and I am sure it will be a great journey all over. Lastly to mention, I am hoping to make the best out of my time in Lewis and Clark, share great moments with new friends and overall have a great time while enriching myself with the academic program Lewis and Clark offers for students planning to pursue International Affairs!
