Hello, I am Luz from Costa Rica and Nicaragua, and I graduated in May 2024 from UWC Robert Bosch College in Germany. When searching for colleges and universities, I knew I wanted to continue my education in a place surrounded by nature and harmony, yet with easy access to a city. From the moment my counselor showed me Lewis & Clark College, I fell in love with its campus and location.
I plan to pursue a double major in International Affairs and either Political Science or Economics. These fields fascinate me, especially after living and learning with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences, and because of the versatility one can achieve when studying Global Politics. Outside the classroom, I enjoy dancing, crocheting, learning languages, baking, listening to music, spending time with friends, appreciating flowers, and doing my makeup.
An interesting fact about me is that I’ve been dancing for as long as I can remember, specifically to Latin American rhythms. In 2019, I had the opportunity to participate in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, California, representing Costa Rica as part of a marching band. Traveling with my friends for this event was one of the best experiences of my life. Something I truly appreciate from my UWC experience are the friendships and bonds I was able to form with my friends—being able to knock on my friends’ doors to share a coffee, a cup of tea, or to bake and cook together. I also love to travel, and the location of my UWC school allowed me to explore countries such as France and Switzerland. I cherish exploring the surroundings of wherever I am living and that’s what I want to continue doing. I am really excited to continue my education at Lewis & Clark College.
