I attended UWC-USA, which was a life-changing experience that shaped me in many ways. Many of my peers cherished the variety of perspectives and the idea of meeting individuals with different points of view, which helped me broaden my outlook on life. However, I do believe that there is beauty in the fact
that despite their vast differences, individuals from all over the world are nonetheless very similar. How language, music, or even food helped us to communicate and realize how similar we are to one another.
The people there helped me create a second family, a group of people who always challenge me to learn more about myself and who serve as a constant reminder of how much I can learn from others.
I believed Lewis & Clark would be a perfect fit for me when I was applying to colleges since it fostered values like international understanding and personal challenge, which are shared by UWC. Since my goal is to return to Madagascar and contribute to the fight against the stigma associated with mental health in
order to improve access to mental health services, I intend to major in psychology and minor in entrepreneurial leadership.
I enjoy using dance as a form of self-expression outside of the classroom. I listen to music all the time, and when I can, I spend hours in the dance studio alone or with friends who have the same passion. I can only completely be myself and feel at ease when I’m dancing. I enjoy performing and spreading my joy to
the audience. UWC also taught me how to appreciate the outdoors and cherish the environment that we live in. I now take pleasure in outdoor pursuits such as backpacking, rock climbing, kayaking, and anything that allows me to spend time outside and forget about daily concerns.
Academically, I have always been drawn to subjects that stimulate critical thinking such as French literature, philosophy, or global politics. I have always enjoyed subjects where there could be several correct answers, depending on each person’s perspective.
During my time at UWC, I took advantage of the fact that I couldn’t go home during breaks to solo travel through 10 US states, work in hostels, and learn a lot about the various cultural elements that make up US culture.
At Lewis & Clark, I intend to, among other things, discover even more about myself by constantly challenging myself through new experiences.
