I think is impossible to materialize into words how impactful UWC was in my life. It did more than increase the quality of education I received, it allowed me to grow up integrally as a person. For me, the most beneficial aspect of my UWC experience was the freedom that suddenly was provided to me. It allowed me for the first time in my life to ask myself “who am I?” while I explored it in a supportive environment. Definitely, the factor that helped me the most was the deep friendships that I created, that provided plenty of beneficial insights about the world and myself. The reason why I decided to apply to Lewis and Clark is because I believe that it can provide me a similar environment where I can use all the knowledge I gained of myself in UWC to build my own professional path.
I am going to major in political science and, if I decide to do a double major, in economy. This since, in the future, I want to be a political journalist and I believe the first step to achieve my goal should be getting a broader political knowledge. Yet, I have plenty of other academic interests that I think I am going to be able to merge in Lewis and Clark. I want to get deeper knowledge in the fields of anthropology, psychology and philosophy. These fields would allow me to expand my vision of the world.
My interests outside the classroom are really diverse. I am really in love with art expressions, especially with writing. I spend a considerable amount of time working on my own. Also, I am trying to read more because I think it can help me improve my own literary work. Besides, I love soccer with all my heart, it is such a beautiful sport that makes me experience all the possible feelings. I also love traveling since it gives me the opportunity to interact directly with many cultures. Therefore, whenever I got the chance to study in Europe, I tried to travel as much as possible in the region. In these trips I try to engage as much as possible with the daily life of these countries.
I believe that with the help of Lewis and Clark I am going to be able to get closer to my goals. I am eager to start writing journalism in an amateur way and I think Lewis and Clark can help me achieve it. I am so excited to start this journey and I’m prepared to get over all the obstacles that come.
