The Albany Society is an honorary organization of Lewis & Clark College alumni from classes that have graduated 50 or more years ago. All alumni from those classes are automatically members of the Albany Society. The Society encourages senior alumni to enrich their lives by re-connecting with classmates and with the college through participation in a variety of Alumni Association and Albany Society-sponsored activities. The Society, founded in 1999, works to enhance alumni renaissance by encouraging members to strengthen their bonds between themselves and the college and to extend those strengthened bonds to all senior alumni. Please feel free to reach out with ideas and suggestions to alumni@lclark.edu. We’d love to hear from you!
The planning and leadership arm of the Albany Society is the Albany Society Board of Directors. The Albany Society Board of Directors (ASBD) meets every other month. Agenda items include a featured speaker (staff, current or past professor, student), an update from Alumni and Parent Engagement staff, a faculty update, and planning and discussion for upcoming events and projects. Interested in joining the group? Please email alumni@lclark.edu.
Each June at Alumni Weekend, the class celebrating their 50th L&C reunion gathers at the Golden Medallion Luncheon. All members of the Albany Society are welcome to join them at the luncheon. At this special event, each member of the 50th reunion class receives a golden medallion, symbolically recreating their commencement ceremony 50 years earlier and officially welcoming them into the Albany Society. The Albany Society has a long history of service to Lewis & Clark. On a rainy day in April 2011, Don Hoyt ’50, Bill Mangels ’55, Jim Stell ’60, Curt Copenhagen ’55, and Jim Cole ’54 volunteered their gardening expertise for a grounds improvement project at the Morgan S. Odell Alumni Gatehouse. The result of their pruning, shearing, and digging can be seen and appreciated at the Gatehouse patio to this day.
Alumni is located in Alumni Gatehouse on the Undergraduate Campus.
