Did you know that we have a group of alumni volunteers who help us connect with other alumni to grow support for the college? Members of the Lewis & Clark Philanthropy Council reach out to fellow alumni three times a year, in September, March, and May to reconnect with their classmates and encourage their peers to join them in giving to the college. Volunteering on the L&C Philanthropy Council is a great way to network, hone valuable communications skills and give back to the school. As one of our volunteers, Janet Hall Schempf ’75, said “Raising money with classmates for Lewis & Clark is fun and satisfying.”
As a Philanthropy Council member you serve an important role contributing to the overarching goals of increasing alumni participation and dollars raised. “I love the opportunity to help the school, and connect with classmates,” said Justin Henderson ’98.
Our volunteers have a variety of reasons for participating, but for many it is because of what Lewis & Clark meant to them and what it will mean for future students. For Katie Byrnes ’79, volunteering allows her to give back: “Four members of my immediate family graduated from Lewis & Clark, and I wanted to support the school that gave all of us an amazing education!” Maria Hein ’74 said she joined the council to help raise funds for students who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford the tuition to attend Lewis & Clark.
