Congratulations to Marly Williams (BA’14) whose book NIGHT MOTHER: A PERSONAL AND CULTURAL HISTORY OF THE EXORCIST (Mad Creek Books/ Ohio State University Press, 2023) is a finalist for the 2025 Oregon Book Awards in the category of Creative Nonfiction.

Williams, who double-majored in English and History while at Lewis & Clark College, In NIGHT MOTHER, Williams explores personal grief and the cultural impact of the 1973 horror classic in a collection of finely interwoven critiques and essays.

In October, 2024, Williams returned to L&C as a guest speaker in the Visiting Writers Series and in a Life After L&C Career Panel. 

Winners of each category will be announced live at the 2025 Oregon Book Awards Ceremony at Portland Center Stage at The Armory on Monday, April 28, 2025.
