Lewis & Clark College brings NYC-based Tiffany Mills Dance Company to Portland for the west coast premiere of the Viola Trilogy, April 4-5 at Fir Acres Theatre on the Lewis & Clark campus. Performed to an original music score featuring seven violas, the performance has been widely lauded by critics and media. As part of their residency at Lewis & Clark, Tiffany Mills Dance Company also is conducting a series of free dance workshops open to the public.

The Viola Trilogy originally premiered in New York City at National Sawdust, a world-renowned presenting organization. Max Giteck Duykers (USA), Stephanie Griffin (Canada), and Tony Prabowo (Indonesia) composed the three original viola music scores for this dance production choreographed by Tiffany Mills. Text generated by dramaturg Peter Petralia and dancers is inspired by the movement and woven into the multisensory performance.

Ten Lewis & Clark students have been selected to join the Company dancers for the west coast premiere performance, having the opportunity to learn from the professional NYC-based dance company through the course of the semester. Lewis & Clark students performing in the Viola Trilogy: Zoe Chinn, Gianvito Cassanelli, Delilah Baldwin, Moxie Dully, Jamie Kushnick, Nora Levinson, Danielle Lieberman, Bryn Romig, Cassandra Whitmore and Roslaie Zuckermann.

The NYC-based Tiffany Mills Company Dancers hail from China, Taiwan and the United States. Dance artists performing in the Viola Trilogy: Tony Bordonaro, Ching-I Chang, Luke Gutgsell, Guanglei Hui, Jordan Morely, and Emily Pope. Following the performance, dancers will hold a Q&A to give the audience an opportunity to engage directly with these professional dancers.

Leading up to the performance, Tiffany Mills Dance Company is conducting a series of free workshops at Lewis & Clark and Reed College. These workshops are open to the public, particularly to participants with neurodiversity and physical diversity. The University of Oregon will bring their dance majors to Lewis & Clark on Friday, April 4th for the master class and performance as a way to build community between Oregon dancers across college campuses.
