What three words would you use to describe Lewis & Clark?

Supportive. Inspiring. Driven.

What drew you to Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling?

During my search for faculty positions in school counseling, I was looking for a place where people truly walk the talk. Lewis & Clark felt like the perfect fit—a community dedicated to supporting students as they grow, both academically and as future leaders in counseling.

What do you find most interesting about your program? What makes it unique?

The school counseling program is filled with passion, purpose, and rigor. What impresses me most is our students’ genuine commitment to supporting K-12 students. They bring diverse backgrounds and experiences to the classroom, and their dedication to becoming exceptional school counselors shines through in their discussions, group work, and writing.

What are you enjoying most about Lewis & Clark so far?

Teaching Intro to School Counseling has been a wonderful experience. I’ve enjoyed every moment of getting to know my students and helping them engage with the rigorous school counseling content.

What are you looking forward to in your first year as a faculty member here?

I’m excited to help students make meaningful connections during their first semester and to provide mentorship, especially for those interested in research and advocacy projects focused on supporting historically marginalized communities.

What’s your favorite spot on campus?

The library is my favorite, but the reflection pond is a close second. I’ve always loved spending time at reflection ponds, and Lewis & Clark’s has been a lovely place to pause and recharge.

What is something you think your students would be surprised to learn about you?

I used to be a dance coach! And I love knitting scarves for my friends and family. I’m hoping to find time to get back into dance and knitting more in the near future.

On behalf of the entire Lewis & Clark community, we are thrilled to welcome Professor Tianka Pharaoh to the graduate school!
