Law School Announces Faculty Promotions: Professors Steverson and Patrick Take on New Leadership Roles
Professor Sandy Patrick was appointed as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor Janet Steverson was appointed as Associate Dean of Faculty Development to ensure robust support for the faculty and students.
Lewis & Clark Law School has two associate deans overseeing faculty development and academic affairs. The roles were created out of the former single Associate Dean of Faculty position. Professors Janet Steverson and Sandy Patrick have been appointed to these key leadership positions, reflecting their exceptional contributions and dedication to the school’s mission. Professor Sandy Patrick will serve as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor Janet Steverson will serve as Associate Dean of Faculty Development.
Said Interim Dean John Parry, who served as associate dean of faculty for 8 years, “as our law faculty and programs grew, the responsibilities expanded until it became clear that we needed to identify two distinct roles in this area. I am so pleased that Professor Patrick and Steverson both said yes to the request to serve.”
Sandy Patrick: Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
Professor Patrick, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, will oversee the academic programs and initiatives within the law school, ensuring the highest standards of educational quality and student support.
“Patrick’s dedication to academic excellence and her innovative approach to legal education have been instrumental in her career,” noted Parry. “Her new position will allow her to further influence the academic direction of the law school, fostering an environment where both students and faculty can thrive.”
Janet Steverson: Associate Dean of Faculty Development
Professor Janet Steverson, Associate Dean of Faculty Development will be responsible for providing comprehensive mentoring for faculty, with a particular focus on new faculty and those in the promotion and tenure/indefinite contract pipeline. She will also chair the Promotion and Tenure Committee and organize the Faculty Colloquia Series, a program dedicated to enhancing faculty teaching and scholarship.
“Steverson’s extensive experience and leadership within the academic community make her an ideal candidate for this position,” said Parry. “Her commitment to fostering a supportive and intellectually stimulating environment for faculty members is evident in her previous roles and accomplishments.”
