Robert E. Jones Professor of Advocacy and Ethics Professor Samir Parikh received the 2023 Huffman Award for his paper, Scarlet-Lettered Bankruptcy: A Public Benefit Proposal for Mass Tort Villains, published by Northwestern University Law Review. It proposes a public benefit alternative to traditional resolution mechanisms for mass tort bankruptcies. The article opened up new dialogue on the optimal means to resolve mass tort cases. Recent cases involving Johnson & Johnson, Purdue, 3M, and Boy Scouts of America have highlighted the importance of this area of study.

The Huffman Award recognizes law school faculty who pursue transformative scholarship.
