Sesquicentennial Celebration!

The Lewis & Clark Sesquicentennial was celebrated in grand style at Alumni Weekend, June 20–25. Students, alumni, parents, friends, current and former faculty, and staff came together as a community on campus. Live music, joyful reunions, late-night dancing, scrumptious food, and more enlivened the weekend for attendees.

“Never have I experienced such an outpouring of support for a campus community as I did at Lewis & Clark’s Alumni Weekend,” said President Wim Wiewel, who attended many of the events along with his wife, Alice. “It was our first Alumni Weekend, and I can’t wait to celebrate many more.”

Hundreds of alumni and their families reconnected with their college days by staying in Lewis & Clark residence halls, getting a cup of joe at Maggie’s, or attending the brunch in Fields Dining Room.

With the help of 23 reunion giving volunteers, 703 reunion-year alumni showed their Pioneer pride by contributing $431,907 to the college. The class of 1973 raised the most gifts totaling $77,126, and the class of 1998 won the highest participation award for exceeding their participation goal by 136 percent.
