Tips for starting a discussion group
One L&C supports creating learning circles which provide professional development for staff and faculty and which promote a sense of community and belonging for employees of Lewis & Clark through engagement and learning.
Participating in a discussion group allows for deeper understanding of a topic and a sharing of various perspectives on that topic. It may also provide opportunities to practice the skills and strategies related to an area of professional development. Discussions around certain topics can bring up emotions, so be sure to establish a set of agreements for the group around respect, confidentiality, and collaboration. Creating Community Agreements
