Lewis & Clark and the Energy Trust of Oregon are partnering to deliver an exciting new training program for high school seniors and college students to gain experience in the energy efficiency and strategic energy management field.


Energy efficiency is a growing field and a great opportunity for Oregon employers and students. Students will learn the basics of energy efficiency and be connected with companies and organizations enrolled in Energy Trust of Oregon’s Strategic Energy Management (SEM) program. SEM is an Energy Trust of Oregon offering that provides organizations with tools and education to start saving energy today and continue saving over time. Students will receive training in aspects of SEM delivery including reporting, data collection, project delivery, occupant engagement, regulations, and policies and beyond.

Course Content Overview: 

This course will be held in person at Lewis & Clark College and will be co-taught by LC faculty and staff, Energy Trust staff and contractors, as well as community partners. The course will include a mix of lecture, group work, site visits, and hands-on field experience. This course is designed specifically for SEM interns and SEM organizations but may be available to new Energy Trust program staff/contractors as space allows. The course content may include:

  • Basics of energy efficiency
  • Introduction to energy systems, equipment, markets
  • Introduction to regulation and policy
  • Reporting, data collection
  • Strategic energy management basics
  • Introduction to ETO programs and processes
  • Site visits and hands-on tool training

Schedule

Employer and student recruitment February - March
Students submit applications March 31
Employers review applications and hire students by May 1
Training course dates & location June 23 - 27, Lewis & Clark College
