Homepage (Ellis) - Heteronyms are words that are spelled
the same but have different meanings when pronounced
differently. For example: Lead (pronounced LEED) means to
guide. However, lead (pronounced LED) means a heavy metal.
Here is another example: When the forest fire came close,
the police had to close (pronounced CLOZE) the road. Study

Web Concordancer (Virtual Language Center - Hong Kong) - A concordancer is a computer program that allows you to look up a word or phrase from a corpus (a collection of writing) and see how it is actually used in sentences. By looking at many, many sentences using a word or phrase, you can learn a lot about its meaning and its grammatical use.
Example 1: Here's a simple example: Enter "look forward" into the box that says "Search String." For the "Corpus," select "Brown." Then click "Search for Concordances." Study the sentences which are found. What preposition will almost always follow "look forward? Is the meaning of "look forward" clear? Click on "Lexicon entries" and you will see a definition for "look forward".

another 3) the other 4) the others 5) others
Study the sentences which are found. Does this help you to
understand the differences in meaning between these five
words? Does it help you know the correct grammar when using
these five words?
