VoIP Upgrade - May 18th, 2024

On Saturday May 18th, IT will upgrade the college’s phone VoIP system. This upgrade will take place over a 12 hour period from 8:00am - 8:00pm. During this time, phones will be intermittently unavailable and services such as 911 will be impacted. We do not expect other services to be impacted. Voice over IP (VoIP) Upgrade

In order to ensure ongoing support and reliability of our phone system, IT will be upgrading our VoIP system infrastructure. During the time of the maintenance, you may experience disruptions of the following phone services:

  • Incoming and outgoing calls
  • Voicemail
  • Call handlers (automated greetings and phone trees)
  • 911 Services

Additionally, you may notice that some of the campus phones will reboot and display a re-registering screen. This is expected behavior.

Timeline

Below is the timeline of the maintenance window. If you have any questions, please contact the IT Service Desk at ITService@lclark.edu

8:00am - 4:00pm

  • Phones will be intermittently unavailable.
    • Inbound calls may fail and get busy tones.
    • The voicemail system will be offline.
      • Inbound callers may not go to or be able to leave a voicemail.
      • Access to voicemail will be offline.
    • 911 services will be intermittently available.

    4:00pm - 8:00pm

    • Phones will be online.
    • Voicemail will be online.
    • Calls to 911 may be answered by an intermediate dispatch service before being routed to local dispatch. Location information will need to be manually provided.
    • Campus Safety may not be automatically notified of calls to 911.

    During this maintenance window, Campus Safety will send out notification on how to reach them in case of an emergency.
