Discover the World

Lewis & Clark’s overseas and off-campus programs are among the best in the nation.

Lewis & Clark’s overseas programs are immersive experiences in unexpected places, often with one of our own faculty members as the trip leader. Running from a semester up to a full year long, our programs give students the time to live new experiences and perspectives rather than simply observe them. Over 60 percent of our students participate in at least one overseas or off-campus program.

Overseas at a Glance: • 60% of Lewis & Clark Students participate • 30+ programs per year on 6 continents • 82% of surveyed alumni say that their overseas experience has contributed to their career in a meaningful way

We offer more than 30 programs on six continents. At least 70 percent of these offerings are in countries outside Western Europe. This spring semester alone, students are studying all over the world—in Beijing for a language-intensive course with Professor of Chinese Keith Dede, in Australia researching arachnoids with Associate Professor of Biology and spider expert Greta Binford, in Senegal studying Sub-Saharan Francophone Culture, as well as in Spain at the Universidad de Alicante.

For the fifth time in six years, according to the 2018 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, peer colleges and universities have identified Lewis & Clark’s overseas and off-campus programs as among the best in the nation. This spring we were also named a Top Producer of Peace Corps Fellows—a reflection of our strong international curriculum and commitment to study-abroad programs.
